Android Design

Oxy moron jokes aside, Android’s new Design site is nice. Matias Duarte nice. You know, the guy that designed the WebOS user experience.

It’s pretty for sure, but already some are calling its content into question. Dustin Curtis tweeted,

The Android Design site is just a list of interface components, whereas the iOS HIG is an implementation guide. Huge difference.

I think it’s a bit more than a “list of interface components,” but I agree that it’s certainly not as in-depth as Apple’s HIG. It’s miles ahead of what they’ve provided to date, though.

Does make me wonder what took so long. Duarte joined Google in May of last year. Perhaps parts of his non-compete clause are just now expiring?
